Area Police
Roughly 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Police report they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then found multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the liquid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities announced they were working "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the community for details.
A senior political figure commented the incident left him speechless and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on online, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
